As we progress with the modernization of our pension administration system, it becomes even more important to have the right people in the right roles – people that know the business and can help move our new systems in the right direction.

Meet Michael, he’s a Business Analyst, Systems and Digital Experience.

Michael works on the squad that is developing our new customer relationship management system – a crucial tool for our day-to-day work and how we stay connected to all of you. Part of his role involves being a subject matter expert and analyzing and documenting business needs, so our developers can design a useful system.

What makes Michael an expert? He has a wealth of knowledge because he has spent time working on various member events – from buy-backs to inter-plan transfers to retired member services. “I started with this company in a role that allowed me to learn about every document and how it relates to each process. That experience helped me to transition into my current role where you need to know what’s happening in all aspects of the business.”

One of the biggest (and most rewarding) challenges in starting his role as a Business Analyst was moving into the tech world and working agile. Working in an agile environment is what helps their team make progress and as Michael explains, “it’s about adapting to the issues that arise. The mindset is that it’s not going to be perfect but we’re just going to keep improving.”
